happy easter!!!!!! 4/21/14

Konnichiwa!!!!!!!!!

My heavens this was a week i will never forget! Greatest ups and some
of the lowest lows... but so grateful for every second of it!!!!

ok so last tuesday sister Kubota was still our temporary companion! i
love that girl so much!!! japanese people are the most wonderful
people in the world!! they are so funny though because they are an
extremely polite people. So when they are around other japanese people
they are kind of quiet, and very modest, and polite. But when they are
around foreigners..... they are hilarious!!!!!!!! Seriously every
single japanese person is that way! at least all that ive met so far
:) Sister Kubota was just cracking us up at every second! its nice to
laugh! feels good!
tuesday afternoon we met with the areas former investigator. Usami
san. she met missionaries through eikaiwa and really gained interest
in learning about the church. with constant changing missionaries i
think she fell through the cracks. but we found her, called and had
lunch together! she has so many great desires! we talked about finding
out for yourself through personal experience. she is really looking
for the truth but doesnt want people to just tell her what to believe.
Well how grateful i am for the power of the Book of Mormon combined
with prayer! we are guaranteed an answer from our loving Heavenly
Father. we have an appointment to meet her again on wednesday!!!!!!
miracle!!!!!

riding our bikes to the church, we said hi to a man walking on the
street. didnt think anything of it. we say hi to people all the time.
But a few minutes after arriving at the church, that man showed up and
thanked us for saying hi! he said he has been to church and would like
to come again!! he gave us his number and address!!!! holy smokes!!!!
miracles and more miracles! and another referral for the elders...
hahaha!

For english class i made my students the cupcakes mom sent me for
easter!!! they loved it!!! japanese sweets are not sweet whatsoever so
they were all blown away!! hahaha!!! no one could eat more than one!
hahahah! so cute! but they took plenty home for family!!!

thursday we set out to go visit a member but when we arrived only the
son was home. he is a less active member so it was nice meeting him!!
we told him we were housing in his area and asked if he would pray for
us to find people to teach! he was a little nervous but did amazing! i
felt the spirit so strongly! Heavenly Father loves this young man! no
one is lost to our savior! not one! it was a miracle!!!!

thursday night we had an appointment with a chinese woman interested
in english. she wants her daughter to learn. we explained that we can
teach personal english to her daughter and after we would like to
share little messages about the church with her. she agreed without
any hesitation! woooooowwww!!!! can you say miracle?!?!?!?!?!?

and the miracles just keep building from there!!! saturday at eikaiwa
we had a new student. she said she got a flyer from us at the train
station and so she came all by her self. after class we talked with
her and set up an appointment with her to help her with english. after
she looks at me and goes "do you also talk about church?"
hahahahahah!!!! do we??!?!?!?!? oh my heavens i died!!!! she has been
to christian churches before and is interested in the mormon church!!!
she is so prepared!!!!!! Heavenly Father is just too good to us!!!! i
have a very happy heart!!! we told her about easter bring the next day
and she said she wanted to come!!!! miracles miracles miracles!!!!!
woooohoo! we told her we would meet at the train station before the
meeting. Sister Requilman and i were ecstatic!!!!!!!!!! we right away
called the bishop to let him know we were having our first
investigator at church! called the ward missionary leader, and called
a member about her same age to fellowship her!!! that night i prayed
sooo very hard that everything would work out. that the spirit would
be strong and she would want to keep coming!!!

well like i said the mission has great big ups and some deep deep downs...
that morning we waited for akiho at the train station to eager to
stand still. the minutes felt like hours.. members passed us and asked
what we were doing. everyone was excited to meet our new friend.
but...... she never showed. i was heart broken. i couldnt help but
sob. I know Heavenly Father has a plan and timing for each of his
children but i just couldnt understand why. we walked with our heads a
little low back to the church. this was not the easter i was hoping
for.

i was devastated. couldnt help but think what did i do wrong. not the
funnest day. after church we got on our ipads and checked our emails.
probably something we should have done in the first place... akiho had
emailed us explaining that she wouldnt be able to make it and had sent
that message hours before church started.... boy did we feel dumb!!!!
hahahahah!!! but on the bright side shes not ditching us!!! we still
have our appointment for tuesday!!!! miracles!!!!!!!!!!

Easter Sunday got more brighter and brighter (even though the clouds
and rain got darker and heavier) we visited two less actives and gave
them some Easter eggs!!! japan doesnt celebrate easter so neither one
of them had ever received a easter present before! they were
thrilled!! warmed my heart!!!!

but really the best miracle happened about an hour ago!!!!! its
raining like cats and dogs so we were not super thrilled to go out and
work but we got moving anyways. we went to visit a member but she
wasnt home.. bummer. no plans. so we did some housing. no one wanted
to talk to us. and we were getting soaked. houses werent too fun to
house. so we went to an apartment complex. but again not much luck. We
were doing our best not to feel down. I rang a door bell and told
Heavenly Father that i would continue on with great faith. i knew we
could find someone! and we did!!!!!!!!!!! i told the woman on the ping
pong that we teach about families and how we can strengthen our family
relationships through the teachings of Jesus Christ. she let me keep
going. so i told her we can also live with our families forever! i
asked if we could share a little message with her and she said
yes!!!!!! she came out to the door and invited us
in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
whhhhaaaaaaattttt???????? like when does that ever happen??? i dont
know... but im pretty pumped about it!!!!!!! oh and she speaks
english!!! (score!!!) she is so cute!!!! her name is emi and her 10
month old little girl is ema! how cute!!!!! she told us that she had
lots of interest in christianity!!! she lived in New Zealand for a few
years and went to church there. she always felt good and was impressed
by the the christian way of service! we basically taught like all four
of the lessons! hahah! gave her a Book of Mormon and she said she
would read as much as she can as soon as she can!!! she wants to come
to church, and basically be best friends!!!!!!!!
MIRACLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my heart just wants to burst!!!!! i have so much gratitude in my
heart! Heavenly Father saw us two little missionaries out there in the
rain. struggling. we let us struggle for a little only to test our
faith! and then he rewarded us greatly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we have a
new best friend!!!!! we have a new investigator!!!!!!! I love my
Heavenly Father so very much!!!! he hears our prayers! our silent
pleas for help, and our hearts desires! how grateful i am for this
opportunity to see such great miracles each and every single day!!!! i
am a changed person. i can never go back! the gospel of Jesus Christ
changes peoples lives and brings a happiness that is too good for
words!!! i am so thankful! because i have been given much!

love you alll!!! take care!

Man, we had a good week!!! 4/14/14

Konnichiwa!!!
Transfer calls......... im staying in Kamagaya!!!!! woohooo!!!! and so
happy about it! i feel like i just got here! Sister Requilman will
still be my  companion!! score!!! we both knew we were staying :) so
not really a surprise! just happiness! kamagaya is an amazing area and
we are ready to work harder than ever!!! im so excited to see what
Heavenly Father has in store for his beloved kamagaians!! We saw so
many miracles and are ready for much much more!!!!

so this week we became a three some! hahah!! we got a new companion!!!
only for this last week of the transfer though. Sister Kubota!!! shes
japanese!!!! and oh my heavens how i love her!!! she is the cutest
little thing ever! i actually met her at the mtc! she is a transfer
ahead of me but we actually go home the same time! woohoo! best
friends! she is an incredible missionary and brought so many miracles
with her to the kamagaya area! we are so grateful for her hard work to
help us! her companion was having a hard time so she wont home. So we
got the wonderful blessing of working with a japanese missionary! i am
in heaven! and learning so much more japanese right now!!! hahahah!!!!
woooohoooo!!!!

this week we got to watch general conference!! wow!!!!!! it was
amazing!!!! sitting in a room filled with missionaries listening to
the words of our dear beloved prophet and apostles is something else!
everyone so eager to learn and be filled with the spirit! we all most
definitely learned a lot those two days! as always i have no time so
these are some of my favorite quotes and some notes from conference! i
think my two favorites were elder eyring about the hope of your
heritage and the general bishop who talked about our 4 minutes!!!

Whoever you are and wherever you may be, you hold in your hands the
happiness of more people than you can now imagine. Every day and every
hour you can choose to make or keep a covenant with God.Wherever you
are on the path to inherit the gift of eternal life, you have the
opportunity to show many people the way to greater happiness. When you
choose whether to make or keep a covenant with God, you choose whether
you will leave an inheritance of hope to those who might follow your
example.I'm not just looking for investigators. I'm looking for future
mothers who will bring us children in the gospel. I'm looking for
faithful future priesthood bearers who will bless the lives of their
forever families. Its so much more than just the one person. Its pasts
and futures of people. A convert has family. Family who has passed on.
They can be blessed through temple ordinances. A convert has a future
family. They can be blessed as well. So I'm choosing each and everyday
to keep and honor my covenants and promises with God. The happiness of
many souls depends on it. My effectiveness as a missionary and my
future family as well. Its a big responsibility but oh so worth it!!
Families are forever and I will do everything in my power to see that
blessing come true! My young friends, wherever you are in your
gfour-minute performance,h I urge you to ponder, gWhat do I need to
do next to ensure my medal?h Your four minutes will pass quickly, and
youfll have eternity to think about what you did in this life. This is
our four minutes! The time is now!! He asked if we felt the sense of
urgency! Oh I'm feeling it! Time is oh so precious! I feel that
incredibly as my mission zooms on past me. Why hold back for a single
second? We prepared for this race before we came to the earth. We are
here not to just go through the motions but to become like our
Heavenly Father and savior. They have provided us with a precious
amount of time. Don't waste it!

Oh how we need general conference! :) i am excited to go back and read
the inspired talks and messages!!!

i am so grateful for my companion sister Requilman. She helped me
realize something great this week. we were talking about how the
spirit speaks to everyone differently. i thought i understood how i
felt the spirit but i dont think i was right. Friday we had an
appointment with a lady who only mostly wanted to learn english.
however as the lesson went on she became more interested in knowing
what we do and what we teach. we taught almost all of the restoration.
As i was testifying of the joy and blessings this gospel brings i felt
the spirit confirm in my heart His love for her. I think she felt it
too. Although this woman is not sure if she wants to keep learning i
know she felt Gods love for her. Sister Requilman helped me understand
that i feel the spirit when im testifying!!! what a great thing! and
how much i love testifying!!! not only does Heavenly Father tell me
that He loves me but He tells them too through the warm feelings of
the Holy Spirit! something i desire to feel everyday! soo.... i need
to do a lot more testifying!!! hahhah!

so grateful for this opportunity! i am so happy!!! i love my savior! i
love my Heavenly Father!! love you all! take care! thanks for all the
prayers and love!

IM A SURVIVOR!!!! 4/7/14

Konnichiwa mina san!!!!

Made it 10 months on my mission!!! survived! jk not surviving actually
enjoying every second!!! but i did get some kind of sickness this week
and managed to survive that one! hallelujah! second time around! and
really i have no idea what it was from.. anyways...

so wednesday we went to do a little exploring! we looked for different
parks because the weather was wonderful and the sakura flowers were
just gorgeous! of course always after being lost for a while we found
the first park we had mapped out. well we thought it was a park.
turned out to be a cemetery! hahah! thats not what we want! i mean a
great time in peoples lives to talk about the gospel but.. so we left
to find the next one. The new park we found was amazing!!!! a huge
park with sakura flowers around the entire thing and moms and little
kids running around everywhere!! oh my heavens it felt like heaven!!!
perfect place to talk to people!! and we did! talked to lots of great
people! lots of cute families! sadly no one willing to meet again or
give contact info but it was a great day! so many happy families!!!
such a sweet sight to see!

after we went and visited a less active member who had previously told
me on the phone that she wants nothing to do with the church and wont
talk about church things ever again. ouch. so we decided to just stop
by and leave her a treat. We made her a pretty card and gave her some
cookies. she was so surprised?? she kept saying "why? its not even my
birthday?" hahah! so cute! but she was very thankful! although we
didnt get to talk with her about the gospel we showed her love. and
she felt it. And guess what honey.. that love inside uss comes
directly through our Heavenly Father and savior Jesus Christ. I know
she felt their love as well! i was so happy with our meeting! all you
need is love!!!

at eikaiwa our students again brought us more treats! they are so good
to us! bread and desserts from a bakery and fresh picked flowers! they
love us :)

thursday it rained all day long (maybe why i got sick??) we went with
our relief society to a park to look at the sakura flowers again!!
they are still the most gorgeous things ive ever seen! they just fill
the whole sky every where you look!! after we went to a members house
for lunch. Sister Requilamn played the ukelele and we all sang songs!
so fun! i love those ladies! we went there with a cute couple from our
ward. The lady is american and guess what.. her name is JANET!!!!
hahahah! i keep finding more and more of them! i love it! i love
janets! she a sweet old lady and loves to talk to us sisters! her
husband is the cutest thing of my life! he reminds me of grandpa
christensen :) after the party he drove us around for like an hour
showing us around and different members houses hahah! his wife kept
telling him to quit it and take us home but he wasnt done hahaha! i
love them!

after we hoped on our bikes to do some finding. we stopped at a large
apartment complex and did some housing. didnt see much success until
the the last door.. its always the last door! hahah! a man opened his
door and goes "mormons!" hahah we were shocked! he said hes buddhist
but is interested in learning about the mormon church! wow!!!! sweet!
yet again another referral for the elders.. where are our
investigators?? goodness! weve done lots of finding this transfer but
still somehow no investigators. we have lots of potential and lots of
new friends but no one super interested.. but luckily i dont think my
companion and i will transfer so weve got plenty of time to find some
real ones!!!
coming home for the night we just got sprayed by every car that passed
us on our bikes. so gross but so funny! couldnt stop laughing! mouth
open the entire way home cause of laughing and nastiness in our mouths
(again maybe another cause to my sickness hahaha)

friday morning i woke up feeling achy but didnt think much of it. we
hopped on a train and went to another area for district meeting.
halfway through however i got the worst chills ever. felt bad but
couldnt pay attention to anything. then my head got super hot. i felt
like dying. the end. hahah! so we rushed home and i went to sleep. i
thought i would be ok after a nap but it only got worse from there.
saturday was about the same. felt awful so we stayed inside all day.
my poor companion! i was bored she must have been out of her mind! she
was so good to me though! i told her that i just wished i had my mommy
to be there with me so she said she would be temporary mommy! haha! i
love her and am so grateful for all her help and concern! didnt get
much sleep friday or saturday night. Worried my mission president and
his wife out a little bit so they made me go to the hospital.. that
was quite the experience... ive never been to a hospital for myself
before.. but president and sister budge live far away so we were on
our own. we found an international clinic a few stations away but by
the time we got there they were closed... president budge calls and
says he on his way to come pick us up!!! hahah! so sweet! but i would
have felt so bad! so we called some members and word got out fast! we
had every member in the ward calling trying to help! two sweet sisters
came to the rescue! picked us up and stayed with us at the hospital.
waited there for a few hours and then got an IV. dont remember much
cause i was sleeping there everything! hahaha! then again went home
and slept.. they gave me some medication and today i am feeling much
much better!!!! thank heavens!

lesson learned this week, do whatever you can to not get sick! i hate
it!!! being sick as a missionary is probably the worst thing in the
world!!!! no tv, no music, no mommies, and all we have are funtons.
good times!

but i am so grateful for the love of so many people around me! my
companion! shes been so patient and so kind! the budges! so worried
and always checking up on me! and the ward members! everyone willing
to help! they brought over easy food for me to eat today :)
sweathearts! none of these people ive known for very long. so why do
they love me so much? same reason we love that less active so much.
Because Our loving Heavenly Father and savior love us! how grateful i
am for that love that can be felt around us all the time! Sick or
healthy! its there!!! <3

love you all! dont catch a cold!
