Happy Fourth of July 6,2014

Hello Hello!!
Hey Everybody happy 4th of july!!!! i wish i could say we celebrated
the 4th here but to be honest everyone forgot... sad day hahaha!
except me!!! i wore red white and blue all week long! hahaha! Go
America!! Of course i love japan, but boy do i miss that land i love!
Hope you all had a good day with family and friends!

Sister Smith and I had a good week! Not much going on but so much at
the same time! everyday we start with plans to find new investigators
or make visits to potential investigators but nothing ever goes to
plan! But its fun! Keeps us on our toes and allows us to see
unexpected but wonderful miracles!!!

Tuesday we went to go visit Nishiyama san. She is the one who works at
the bar that we tried to find before. How the other sisters found her
we are not sure hahah but shes a sweetheart! so we got to her pub and
she was so excited to see us! she sat us down and gave us free soda
and cake! then kept coming back with souvenirs for us! so cute! she
likes christianity and wants to learn! And it just so happens that her
one day off work is sunday!!! can we say perfect?!??!! She got sick
this sunday and wasnt able to come to church but were hoping for this
week! We were enjoying the time talking with her until a customer
decided it was time for karaoke... hahahaha!!!!!! japanese karaoke is
nothing like it is in america!!!!! it was hilarious! The songs are all
so serious and everyone trying to be in the opera or something.. We
were dying! sadly karaoke is against the rules so we had to leave. But
it was quite the experience!! After that we went to the station to
hand out english flyers. For some reason, my area has a ton of people
from the Philippines! and they are my favorite! so kind! and they are
almost all christian so they dont get scared when we bring up Jesus
Christ! I met this one girl named Ruby! i think she was excited to see
another foreigner because she came right up to me and held my hand!
hahah!! shes adorable! she wants to come to church with us if she can
get out of bed hahah! love new friends!!! That night we had an
appointment at a members house! They were going to introduce us to a
friend! referrals!!! but we showed up and the friend wasnt there :( so
instead we helped the family build a giant desk! buidling stuff is
confusing enough in english... we were so lost! but we were able to
finish it and the family was so happy! i love the kakiki family! all
10 of them!!! :)

so wednesday was just an awkward day. why? i dont know. it just was.
We tried to visit a member but they werent home. So we did some
housing. Not much success. Walked around the streets and ending up at
a cafe we had passed before on our bikes. That day a lady ran out and
gave us the cafe business card and told us to come again! so we
figured we would stop by! the owner is super cute! but didnt get to
talk too much because three other loud ladies came in too. These
ladies were taking pictures of everything in the cute cafe including
us! haha! they asked why we were here and i told them we are
volunteers. One lady looks at me and says "me too!" i told her we were
church missionaries and she said again "me too!" well turns out this
lady is a Jehovah's Witness. We told her we were LDS and this is where
the awkwardness began hahah! she got very serious and asked me why i
was mormon. I explained to her that i love the church and my family
has been extremely blessed from it. she gave me one of those your
crazy kind of looks and didnt say anything more. she and her friends
ignored us the rest of the time so we left. Good times though! At
least they know they are welcome to church anytime! :)

Thursday we visited our investigator Ootani san. Shes a cute little
old lady who lives to serve! everytime we come over she gives us food
and books and just anything she can get her hands on! we left her with
a joseph smith pamphlet last time so we asked her if she had read. She
told us that she did but absolutely no interest in that man. We were a
little confused. Shes read the Book of Mormon and loves christianity.
But she explained that she only likes to learn from a academical point
of view. And tried to convince us that we came from monkeys.. we will
keep working on that hahaha! shes great though and wants to take us
camping! hahaha! so cute!

saturday was the best!!!!! we threw together a little gyoza party!!!
(pot stickers)!!! i still hate gyoza because of New Years when i got
sick but it was a fun activity to do with friends! we got the ward in
on it and it turned out to be a huge success! Sister smith and i had
four people come to the party! members were awesome being great
fellowshippers and making them feel welcomed! sister smith and i
really didnt even get the chance to talk hahaha! it was so wondeful
though! so grateful for the amazing ward members who are so willing to
work with us to help bring our friends unto our savior Jesus Christ!

Sunday was the best day!!!! We met our bishop and the ward mission
leaders at 4:00 in the morning on top of a mountain to dedicate and
bless the sakado area!!!!! it was so cool!!!! we all got to watch the
sun rise together and look out over our beautiful area of sakado!! our
sweet bishop gave the most beautiful blessing! he blessed the area
that we would be able to find the truly prepared people and that
members would be able to work side by side with the missionaries! We
all were feeling the spirit of The Lord! The work truly is hastening
and i am so grateful for this opportunity that i have to work in this
area! Our ward members have so much fire!! so ready to do the will of
The Lord! There really is no better responsibility in the church than
missionary work! oh ya... we got transfer calls this morning! sister
smith and i are staying together in sakado!!!! woohooo!!! we figured
we would! and thank goodness! the work is just really getting started
and i know great miracles are coming!!! i cant wait to see how The
Lord will bless this area and his children!!! I love this work and i
love this gospel!!!

love you all!
Sister Christensen
